Ingredients

For the cream cheese spread
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh dill (optional, for garnish) Mix into the cream cheese for extra flavor
For the sandwiches
  • 1 large cucumber, thinly sliced Aim for even distribution on the sandwiches
  • 8 slices white or whole wheat bread Remove crusts for an elegant presentation

Method

Preparation
  1. Lay out the slices of bread on a clean countertop or cutting board.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. Mix in fresh dill if using.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over one side of each slice of bread. Optionally, use a thicker layer on half of the slices.
  4. Lay the thinly sliced cucumbers on top of the cream cheese on half of the slices. Optionally, sprinkle extra salt or pepper on the cucumbers.
  5. Top the cucumber-adorned slices with the remaining cream cheese-spread bread slices, cream cheese side down, and gently press them together.
  6. Using a sharp knife, cut the sandwiches into quarters or triangles and arrange them on a platter. Garnish with sprigs of fresh dill.

Notes

For best results, prepare sandwich components separately and assemble just before serving to prevent sogginess. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
