Ingredients

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 chicken sausages, sliced ensure they are fully cooked
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Grated Parmesan cheese for garnish
  • fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

Cooking the Orzo
  1. In a medium pot, bring 2 cups of chicken broth to a boil.
  2. Add orzo and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Sautéing Chicken Sausage
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned and heated through, about 5 minutes.
Adding Broccoli
  1. Toss in the broccoli florets to the skillet and sauté for another 3-4 minutes until they’re bright green and tender-crisp.
Making the Sauce
  1. Lower the heat, and pour in the heavy cream.
  2. Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes, letting the flavors meld together.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Add the cooked orzo to the skillet and toss to combine everything.
  2. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of chicken broth to reach your desired consistency.
Serving

Notes
