Ingredients

For the crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Ensure it is measured correctly for best results.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed Use cold butter for a flaky crust.
For the filling
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped Chop uniformly for even texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, letting it hang over the edges for easy removal later.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. Mix well before incorporating the cold, cubed butter.
  3. Use a pastry blender or your fingers to combine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Transfer the crust mixture into the prepared baking dish, pressing it evenly across the bottom.
  5. Place the crust in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
Filling
  1. While the crust bakes, whisk together the eggs, brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
  2. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  3. Once the crust is ready, remove it from the oven and pour the pecan filling over the hot crust, spreading it evenly.
  4. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until set and golden on top.
Cooling
  1. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.
  2. Using the parchment overhang, lift out to a cutting board, slice into bars, and enjoy.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or drizzle with chocolate sauce for added flair. Let bars cool completely before slicing to avoid messy cuts.
