Ingredients

Pasta and Steak
  • 8 oz pasta (your choice: spaghetti, penne, or fusilli)
  • 1 lb steak, sliced (use halal-certified beef)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
Vegetables and Seasoning
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, sliced (any color)
  • 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Garnish
  • to taste Fresh parsley for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Start by prepping all your ingredients. Chop up your steak, dice the onion, slice the bell pepper, and mince the garlic so everything is ready to go!
  2. Sear the Steak: In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and season with salt and pepper. Sear the steak for about 3-4 minutes until it’s browned on all sides. Remove it from the pot and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables: In the same pot, add the diced onion and bell pepper. Sauté them for about 5 minutes until they soften. Toss in the minced garlic and stir for 1 minute until fragrant.
Cooking
  1. Combine Ingredients: Return the seared steak to the pot. Add the diced tomatoes, beef broth, and Italian seasoning. Stir everything together.
  2. Cook the Pasta: Bring the mixture to a boil and add the pasta. Stir well, reduce the heat to low, and cover the pot. Allow it to simmer for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked al dente and has absorbed most of the liquid.
  3. Taste and Adjust: Give it a taste, and add any additional salt and pepper if needed. Stir in fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor.
  4. Serve: Plate your delicious Easy One-Pot Zesty Steak Pasta and garnish with more parsley. Enjoy warm!

Notes

Substitutions: If steak isn’t your thing, feel free to swap it with halal chicken or mushrooms for a vegetarian option. Timing is Key: Ensure to keep an eye on the pasta while it cooks; you want it to be tender but not mushy! Avoid Common Mistakes: Don’t skip the step of sautéing the vegetables first—this enhances the overall flavor of the dish. Storing and Reheating Tips: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the microwave for 2-3 minutes or warm in a skillet adding a splash of beef broth if necessary.
