Preparation
- Start by placing your beef chuck roast at the bottom of your crockpot.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper generously over the beef.
- Place the au jus gravy mix evenly over the beef.
- Carefully pour the beef broth around the roast, ensuring that it doesn’t wash away the seasoning.
- Lay the sliced onions on top of the beef.
Cooking
- Cover and cook the beef on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
- Once done cooking, shred the beef with two forks.
- Fill hoagie rolls with the tender beef and top with melted provolone cheese if desired.
- Serve with the broth ladled into individual servings as a dip for the sandwiches.
