Ingredients

For the dough
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for greasing)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it’s frothy.
  2. Once the yeast is ready, add the melted butter and salt to the mixture. Gradually incorporate the flour, one cup at a time, mixing with a wooden spoon or your hands.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Lightly oil a clean bowl and place the kneaded dough inside. Cover it with a damp towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 10 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking pan, leaving a little space in between.
  6. Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 10 minutes.
  7. Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter if desired. Enjoy these warm rolls right away!

Notes

These rolls are best fresh out of the oven but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 3 months. To reheat, place in a preheated oven at 350°F for 5-10 minutes.
