For the Fish Sticks
  • 1 pound white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (whole wheat or panko)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 large eggs whisked
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cut the white fish fillets into stick shapes, about 1-inch wide and 3-4 inches long.
  3. In one bowl, place the flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
  4. In a second bowl, whisk the eggs.
  5. In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, paprika, and garlic powder.
Breading and Baking
  1. Dip each fish stick in the flour, ensuring it’s well-coated.
  2. Shake off any excess before dipping into the egg.
  3. Coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Arrange the coated fish sticks on a lined baking sheet in a single layer.
  5. Spray lightly with cooking spray or drizzle with a little oil.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  2. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or a wedge of lemon.

Notes

For Halal-friendly alternatives, use frozen fish fillets labeled Halal. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in a preheated oven to keep the crispiness.
