Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract together until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a couple of minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is softened, avoid overmixing, and consider chilling the dough if too warm. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
