  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use high-quality chocolate for better flavor.
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter Creamy variety works best for smooth mixing.
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter Helps to create a rich texture.
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar For coating the cereal.
  • 1 cup pastel-colored candy-coated chocolates (optional) For decoration and added sweetness.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, measure out the Rice Chex cereal and set it aside for later.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, creamy peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Once melted, pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal. Gently fold the cereal with a spatula until fully coated.
  4. Pour the coated cereal into a large resealable plastic bag or a bowl. Add the powdered sugar and seal the bag. Shake until the cereal is uniformly coated with the sugary goodness.
  5. If desired, mix in the pastel-colored candy-coated chocolates for an extra festive touch.
  6. Spread the Puppy Chow out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool and set for about 10 minutes.
  7. Once cooled, serve in a bowl or bag as a delightful snack!

Notes

For the best flavor, use high-quality chocolate chips. Feel free to customize with other mix-ins like nuts or dried fruit. Store in an airtight container to maintain crunch.
