Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Add-Ins
  • 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips Optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Stir well to ensure even distribution.
  3. In another bowl, melt the softened butter, then mix in brown sugar and granulated sugar until creamy. Add in the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the butter and sugar mixture. Mix until just combined. If you’re using raisins or chocolate chips, fold them in at this stage.
  5. Use a spoon or cookie scoop to place rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about two inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake in your preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For perfect cookies, use fresh ingredients, customize your add-ins, and avoid overbaking. Chill the dough for chewier cookies and store them in an airtight container.
