Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Stir well to ensure even distribution.
- In another bowl, melt the softened butter, then mix in brown sugar and granulated sugar until creamy. Add in the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the butter and sugar mixture. Mix until just combined. If you’re using raisins or chocolate chips, fold them in at this stage.
- Use a spoon or cookie scoop to place rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about two inches apart.
Baking
- Bake in your preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For perfect cookies, use fresh ingredients, customize your add-ins, and avoid overbaking. Chill the dough for chewier cookies and store them in an airtight container.
