Ingredients

Pizza Dough
  • 1 cup sourdough starter (discard)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
Toppings
  • to taste tomato sauce
  • to taste cheese
  • to taste vegetables such as bell peppers, onions, or mushrooms
  • to taste herbs such as basil or oregano

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Shape the Pizza: Roll or stretch the dough into your preferred pizza shape (round or rectangular works well). Transfer it to a parchment-lined baking sheet or onto your preheated pizza stone.
  5. Add Toppings: Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce, sprinkle cheese, and add your favorite toppings.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  7. Slice and Serve: Once baked, take it out of the oven, let it cool for a minute, and then slice into pieces. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For the best results: Adjust your dough consistency depending on the hydration of your sourdough starter, and experiment with toppings to find your favorite combination. If you have one, bake on a preheated pizza stone for an ultra-crispy crust.
