Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground turkey Lean protein alternative to traditional meat
  • 8 oz pasta (your choice: spaghetti, penne, or fusilli) Any type you prefer
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes Base of the sauce
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped Adds sweetness and flavor
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced For aromatic flavor
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For sautéing the aromatics
  • 1 tsp dried oregano Herb for seasoning
  • 1 tsp dried basil Herb for seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste To season the dish
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional) For added freshness and color
  • Grated cheese (optional) For topping if desired

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by boiling water in a large pot. Add a pinch of salt and your pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 3 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat slightly and add the ground turkey to the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon until it’s no longer pink.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Stir well and let it simmer for 10 minutes, allowing all the flavors to meld together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing gently to coat everything evenly in the sauce. If the mixture seems a bit dry, you can add a splash of water.
  6. Plate your Delicious Ground Turkey Pasta, garnishing with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of grated cheese, if desired. Enjoy your creation!

Notes

Feel free to substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or other lean meats. To prevent your pasta from sticking, stir occasionally while it cooks and add a splash of olive oil to the boiling water. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
