  • 8 oz your favorite pasta (penne, spaghetti, or rotini) Cook according to package instructions
  • 1 lb ground turkey Make sure it’s halal-certified
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, diced Any color
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese Optional; can substitute with nutritional yeast for a vegan option
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Start by boiling a pot of salted water. Add your chosen pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, sauté the chopped onion and bell pepper for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground turkey to the skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the turkey is fully cooked and no longer pink.
  5. Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the turkey mixture and cook for another 3 minutes until they soften.
  6. Gently fold the drained pasta into the skillet, mixing well to combine everything. Adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  7. Plate your Delicious Ground Turkey Pasta, topping with freshly grated Parmesan cheese (if using) and a sprinkle of fresh herbs!

Notes

If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Can be frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat in a skillet with a splash of water or broth to maintain moisture.
