  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken Substitute with halal chicken if needed
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cups beef broth Ensure it's halal-certified
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt for a lighter version
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Or your choice of halal cheese
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions Ensure they're halal

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they're golden brown and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
Combining Ingredients
  1. In a large bowl, mix the shredded chicken, caramelized onions, beef broth, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add in the sour cream and mix well.
Assembly
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the chicken mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Topping
  1. Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the top. Then, finish it off with a layer of crispy fried onions.
Baking
  1. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving! Dig in and enjoy the crispy, cheesy goodness.

Notes

For perfect results, don't rush the caramelization of the onions. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes.
