  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced For best flavor, use sweet onions.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Minced garlic enhances the dish's flavor.
  • 1 cup beef broth Ensure it’s halal-certified.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Halal Worcestershire sauce is recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or Gruyere) Use your favorite cheese variety.
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional) Adds a fresh touch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Thinly slice your onions and mince the garlic.
Layering
  1. Place the chicken breasts at the bottom of the crockpot. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  2. Layer the sliced onions on top of the chicken, followed by the minced garlic.
Cooking
  1. Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over everything.
  2. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
Finishing Touches
  1. Once chicken is fork-tender, sprinkle shredded cheese on top and cover for about 10 minutes to melt the cheese.
Serving
  1. Spoon the savory onion sauce over the chicken and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to three months. To reheat, use a stovetop on low heat or microwave, stirring occasionally.
