  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ sticks unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large halal egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ½ cup powdered sugar For icing
  • Food coloring For decoration

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add in the halaled egg and vanilla extract, mixing well until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mix to the butter-sugar mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  6. Scoop tablespoons of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on a lined baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  7. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  9. Once completely cooled, decorate with icing and colorful toppings as desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for up to two weeks. Freezes well for up to three months.
