Ingredients

For the croutons
  • 4 cups Bread of choice, cubed; day-old bread works best
  • 1/4 cup Olive oil
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Dried Italian herbs or your choice
  • 1/2 tsp Salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper or to taste
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut your day-old bread into 1-inch cubes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread with olive oil, garlic powder, dried herbs, salt, and black pepper. Toss everything together until the bread is nicely coated. If using, add Parmesan cheese.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the seasoned bread cubes evenly across the sheet.
Baking
  1. Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the croutons are golden brown and crunchy. Stir halfway through for even cooking.
  2. Once baked, let them cool on the baking sheet before transferring to an airtight container.

Notes

For perfect croutons, experiment with different types of bread and seasonings. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
