Equipment

  • Crockpot (slow cooker)
  • Wooden spoon or whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Ladle (for serving)

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/4 cup crushed peppermint candies for garnish
  • Whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  • Prepare the Crockpot: Set your crockpot to low heat. Add the whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream into the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
  • Add the Chocolate: Pour in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir gently until the chocolate starts to melt into the milk mixture. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent the chocolate from burning.
  • Add the Extracts: After 2 hours, stir in the vanilla extract and peppermint extract. Taste and adjust the level of peppermint if you want it more minty.
  • Serve: Ladle the hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle crushed peppermint candies for an extra festive touch.
  • Enjoy: Sip and enjoy the cozy, indulgent flavors of your homemade peppermint hot chocolate!
