  • 1 lb ground beef Choose lean beef for less grease but keep some fat for flavor!
  • 1 onion, finely chopped Adds a sweet and savory base.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or American works beautifully.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Binds everything together.
  • 1 egg Helps the patties hold their shape.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder For extra flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Essentials for seasoning.
  • as needed Burger buns For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Chop your onion and measure out your other ingredients.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.
  3. Form the mixture into burger-sized patties, aiming for about 4-6 patties.
Cooking
  1. Place the patties in the crockpot, layering if needed. Cook on low for about 6 hours or on high for 3 hours, until thoroughly cooked.
  2. In the last 10-15 minutes of cooking, place the shredded cheese on top of the patties to melt.
Serving
  1. Carefully remove the patties from the crockpot and serve them on burger buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
