Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- Wash, peel, core, and chop your apples into small pieces.
Mixing
- Place the chopped apples in your Crock Pot. Add the granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Stir everything together until well combined.
Cooking
- Cover the Crock Pot and set it to low heat. Allow the mixture to cook for about 10 hours.
- After 10 hours, the mixture should be thickened and caramelized. Blend until smooth using an immersion blender or a regular blender.
- If your apple butter isn’t thick enough, return it to the Crock Pot and continue cooking on high for an additional 1-2 hours, uncovered.
Canning
- Ladle the apple butter into sterilized canning jars, leaving about a 1/4-inch headspace. Seal with lids and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
Notes
For optimal results, mix different types of apples, adjust sugar based on sweetness, and remember to sterilize canning jars properly.
