Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb salmon fillet, skinless and boneless, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (feel free to use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (Panko for added crunch)
Sauce Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (ensure it's halal-certified)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or any preferred cooking oil)
Garnishes (Optional)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by patting your salmon pieces dry with a paper towel. This will help them crisp up beautifully when cooked. Season the salmon with a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside.
  2. In a shallow dish, add the flour. In another bowl, whisk together the breadcrumbs, salt, and any desired spices for the coating.
Sauce and Cooking
  1. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Heat over medium-low, stirring until the honey melts and the mixture is well combined. Remove from heat.
  2. Take each piece of salmon and dip it first into the flour, shaking off excess, then into the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring they’re thoroughly coated.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon bites in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Once cooked, carefully add the honey garlic sauce to the skillet with salmon, tossing gently to ensure every bite is coated in the tasty mixture.
  5. Serve your Crispy Honey Garlic Salmon Bites with optional sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with spices in the breadcrumb mixture—paprika or cayenne pepper can add a delightful kick. Ensure your salmon bites are in a single layer while cooking to avoid steaming them. Cook in batches to retain that perfect crispiness. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to one month.
