Preparation
- Slice your beef thinly against the grain. Toss with cornstarch until well coated.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Cooking
- Add the beef in a single layer and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until crispy and browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of oil, then add bell pepper and onion. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Return the cooked beef to the pan. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine well and heat through for another minute.
- Serve hot, over a bed of steamed rice or as is.
Notes
Cut against the grain for tender beef. Marinate beef with soy sauce for enhanced flavor; don't overcrowd the pan.
