  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • as needed Cooking spray For added crunch.

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut off the top of the onion, leaving the root intact. Peel and slice the onion downward in a star pattern until about a half-inch from the bottom. Gently separate the petals without tearing them.
Coating
  1. Set up an assembly line with three separate bowls: one with the flour, one with the beaten eggs, and one with the breadcrumb mixture.
  2. Carefully dip the onion into the flour mixture, ensuring all petals are coated. Shake off excess flour, then dip in the egg wash, and finally coat in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to get an even layer.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the coated onion with cooking spray.
  2. Place the blooming onion in the air fryer basket and cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Serving
  1. Once finished, let it cool for a minute and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
