Ingredients

Pasta and Protein
  • 8 oz pasta (any shape you prefer, like penne or fusilli)
  • 1 can tuna, drained
Sauce
  • 1/2 cup pesto sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Garnish
  • to taste Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Method

Cooking the Pasta
  1. Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water.
  2. Once it reaches a rolling boil, add in the pasta and cook it according to the package instructions until al dente.
  3. Drain and set aside.
Preparing the Sauce
  1. In the same pot (or a large skillet), pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add the pesto sauce into the cream. Stir well to combine, ensuring the mixture is evenly colored and fragrant.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Gently fold in the drained tuna, being careful not to break it apart too much.
  2. Toss the cooked pasta into the creamy sauce, mixing until every single piece is coated.
  3. If the sauce seems thick, you can add a splash of pasta water to loosen it to your preferred consistency.
Final Touches
  1. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Cook for an additional minute to allow the flavors to meld.
Serving
  1. Dish out the pasta onto plates or into bowls and garnish with fresh basil if desired.
  2. Enjoy your creamy delight!

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or Greek yogurt. Always have your ingredients pre-measured and ready for a smoother cooking process. Avoid overcooking the pasta as it will continue cooking in the sauce.
