Cook the Sausage:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
Add the Italian sausage, breaking it into small crumbles with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5–7 minutes.
Remove excess grease if needed.
Sauté Aromatics:
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until softened and fragrant, about 2–3 minutes.
Add Liquids and Seasoning:
Stir in the marinara sauce, chicken broth, heavy cream, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Cook the Spaghetti:
Break the spaghetti in half and add it to the pot, making sure it is submerged in the sauce.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10–12 minutes or until the spaghetti is tender and cooked through.
Finish the Dish:
Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and black pepper.
Serve:
Garnish with fresh basil leaves and additional Parmesan cheese.
Serve hot and enjoy!
