Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric hand mixer or whisk
  • Serving bowl

Ingredients

  • Savory Cream Cheese Dip:
  • 8 oz 225g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese optional
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions or chives
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sweet Cream Cheese Dip:
  • 8 oz 225g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Soften the cream cheese:
  • Remove the cream cheese from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to soften. This ensures a smooth and creamy dip.
  • Mix the ingredients (savory):
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth. Stir in the green onions or chives.
  • Mix the ingredients (sweet):
  • For a sweet version, mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon (if using) in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
  • Chill:
  • Refrigerate the dip for at least 15-20 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld together.
  • Serve:
  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. For savory dips, pair with chips, crackers, fresh veggies, or pretzels. For sweet dips, serve with cookies, graham crackers, or fresh fruit.
