Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef (Halal-certified)
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (Halal-certified)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the oats, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the chopped onions and bell peppers for about 5 minutes until softened.
  4. In the same bowl with the dry ingredients, add the ground beef, sautéed vegetables, Worcestershire sauce, eggs, and milk. Mix everything until well combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.
  6. In a small bowl, combine ketchup and brown sugar. Spread the glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
  7. Bake for about 45-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Substitutions: Replace half of the ground beef with turkey or chicken for a lighter option. Use gluten-free oats if necessary. Baste the meatloaf with additional glaze halfway through baking for extra flavor. Avoid overmixing to maintain a tender texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to 3 months.
