Ingredients

Sweeteners and Spices
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adjust to taste if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon Feel free to experiment with other spices.
  • A pinch optional salt Enhances flavor.
Other Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon butter Melted over medium heat.
  • 1/4 cup water Helps create steam for cooking.

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel and slice your apples into thin wedges. The thinner the slices, the quicker they’ll cook down.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Ensure it doesn’t burn.
Cooking
  1. Once the butter is melted, add your apple slices to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they start to soften.
  2. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon over the apples. Add a pinch of salt if desired.
  3. Add the water to the skillet and stir everything to combine.
  4. Cover with a lid and allow to simmer for about 10 minutes until the apples are tender and the liquid is syrupy.
  5. Remove the lid and let the apples cook for a minute or two to thicken the sauce further. Serve warm.
