Preparation
- Peel and slice your apples into thin wedges. The thinner the slices, the quicker they’ll cook down.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Ensure it doesn’t burn.
Cooking
- Once the butter is melted, add your apple slices to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they start to soften.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon over the apples. Add a pinch of salt if desired.
- Add the water to the skillet and stir everything to combine.
- Cover with a lid and allow to simmer for about 10 minutes until the apples are tender and the liquid is syrupy.
- Remove the lid and let the apples cook for a minute or two to thicken the sauce further. Serve warm.
Notes
These Fried Apples can be paired with vanilla ice cream, served as a side with meals, or enjoyed on their own. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
