Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 oz pasta (such as rotini or penne)
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, diced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, cubed
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Italian dressing
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method

Cooking
  1. Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (usually about 8-10 minutes).
  2. While the pasta is cooking, wash and chop the cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, black olives, and mozzarella cheese.
  3. Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and rinse it under cold water to stop the cooking process. In a large bowl, combine the cooled pasta, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, black olives, and mozzarella.
  4. Pour in the Italian dressing and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Toss everything together gently to coat the ingredients evenly.
  5. Finally, toss in the fresh basil for a burst of flavor and aroma. Give it a final mix, and your Classic Italian Pasta Salad is ready to serve!

Notes

For substitutions, consider adding grilled chicken or cooked chickpeas for protein. This salad tastes even better after a few hours in the fridge, so prepare it in advance if possible. Ensure pasta is al dente and rinsed to maintain texture.
