  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice About 1 lime

  1. Begin by rinsing your long-grain white rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This process helps remove excess starch, allowing each grain to become fluffy.
  2. In a medium saucepan, add the rinsed rice, 2 cups of water, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring it to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 15-18 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the rice rest, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. This step ensures the rice is perfectly tender.
  4. After resting, use a fork to fluff the rice gently. Then, stir in the fresh lime juice and chopped cilantro, mixing well. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can add lime zest for that extra burst of flavor.
  5. Your Classic Cilantro Lime Rice is ready to be served! It’s perfect alongside grilled dishes, in burritos, or as a standalone delight.

Notes

For perfect rice, rinse the rice to prevent stickiness. Use fresh cilantro and lime for best results. Feel free to add ingredients like black beans or corn for variation. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge or freeze for up to a month.
