Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Essential for the caramel base.
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces Adds richness and creamy texture.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Incorporates a smooth consistency.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional) Enhances flavor, but it's optional.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and have everything ready, as the process moves quickly.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the granulated sugar. Stir continuously with a rubber spatula or a wooden spoon until the sugar melts completely.
  3. Once the sugar is fully melted and has turned a light amber color, carefully add the butter pieces. Stir continuously until the butter is fully melted and combined.
  4. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring. Keep stirring until everything is well blended and the caramel is smooth.
  5. If desired, stir in the salt and vanilla extract for added flavor.
  6. Allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly before transferring it to a glass jar or airtight container.
  7. Let it cool completely at room temperature before refrigerating.

Notes

Keep an eye on the sugar while it melts; use a heavy-bottomed pan to distribute heat evenly. Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to two weeks. Reheat if necessary before use.
