Chicken Noodle Casserole Recipe – Comfort Food at Its Best

This Chicken Noodle Casserole is the ultimate comfort food—creamy, cheesy, and packed with tender chicken and noodles. Perfect for weeknight dinners or potlucks!

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups cooked egg noodles
  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded or diced
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas optional
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots optional
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup crushed Ritz crackers or breadcrumbs for topping
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat the Oven
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  3. Step 2: Cook the Noodles
  4. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  5. Step 3: Prepare the Filling
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  7. Stir in the cooked chicken, peas, and carrots (if using). Add the cooked noodles and mix until evenly coated.
  8. Step 4: Assemble the Casserole
  9. Pour the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  10. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  11. Step 5: Add the Topping
  12. In a small bowl, combine the crushed Ritz crackers or breadcrumbs with the melted butter. Mix until evenly coated.
  13. Sprinkle the topping over the cheese layer.
  14. Step 6: Bake
  15. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
