Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) if you’re planning to bake your Chicken Cordon Bleu. Prepare a baking dish with olive oil or butter.
- Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, gently pound the chicken to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Sprinkle both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper for added flavor.
Assembly and Coating
- Lay two slices of turkey ham and two slices of Swiss cheese on top of each flattened chicken breast. Roll them tightly and secure with toothpicks if necessary.
- Setup a dredging station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate shallow bowls. Dip each chicken roll first in flour, then in egg, and finally coat in breadcrumbs.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Carefully add the chicken rolls, cooking for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Transfer the fried chicken to the preheated oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes to ensure they are fully cooked through.
Serving
- Once cooked, remove toothpicks, slice, and serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
For a crispy finish, ensure the oil is hot before frying. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To reheat, use the oven for the best results.
