Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices halal turkey ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 pieces eggs beaten
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • as needed olive oil or butter for frying

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) if you’re planning to bake your Chicken Cordon Bleu. Prepare a baking dish with olive oil or butter.
  2. Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, gently pound the chicken to about 1/2-inch thickness.
  3. Sprinkle both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper for added flavor.
Assembly and Coating
  1. Lay two slices of turkey ham and two slices of Swiss cheese on top of each flattened chicken breast. Roll them tightly and secure with toothpicks if necessary.
  2. Setup a dredging station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate shallow bowls. Dip each chicken roll first in flour, then in egg, and finally coat in breadcrumbs.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Carefully add the chicken rolls, cooking for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  2. Transfer the fried chicken to the preheated oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes to ensure they are fully cooked through.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, remove toothpicks, slice, and serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For a crispy finish, ensure the oil is hot before frying. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To reheat, use the oven for the best results.
