Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup diced apples
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the applesauce and vanilla extract. Pour into the dry ingredients and stir until combined.
  5. Gently fold in the diced apples and nuts, if using.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before slicing into squares.
  3. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!

Notes

These bars can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week, or frozen for about one month. To reheat, microwave for 15-20 seconds or warm in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for a few minutes.
