Ingredients
  

  • 2 cans 21 oz each cherry pie filling
  • 1 box 15.25 oz yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter sliced into thin pats
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped nuts pecans or almonds or shredded coconut

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish lightly with butter or cooking spray.
  • Layer the Filling:
  • Pour the cherry pie filling evenly into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out with a spatula.
  • Add the Cake Mix:
  • Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the cherry filling, covering it completely without mixing.
  • Top with Butter:
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix, ensuring even coverage. Place the thin pats of butter over any remaining dry spots for a golden finish.
  • Add Optional Toppings:
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts or shredded coconut on top if desired for added texture and flavor.
  • Bake:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
  • Cool and Serve:
