Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Wet Ingredients and Fillings
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley or chives)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Pour in the milk and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  6. In a separate bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the chopped herbs.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead until it holds together. Roll it out to about 1-inch thick and cut out biscuits.
  8. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each biscuit, fold the dough to seal and pinch the edges.
Baking
  1. Place the filled biscuits on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

You can substitute with goat cheese or other Halal-friendly cheeses. Monitor the biscuits closely to prevent overcooking.
