Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Pour in the milk and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- In a separate bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the chopped herbs.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead until it holds together. Roll it out to about 1-inch thick and cut out biscuits.
- Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each biscuit, fold the dough to seal and pinch the edges.
Baking
- Place the filled biscuits on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly before serving.
Notes
You can substitute with goat cheese or other Halal-friendly cheeses. Monitor the biscuits closely to prevent overcooking.
