Method
Preparation
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant and the onions turn translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Use a spatula to break it into crumbles while it cooks. Stir until the beef is browned (about 5-7 minutes).
- Sprinkle taco seasoning over the beef, mixing well. Add a splash of water if needed, and allow it to simmer for another 2-3 minutes to develop the flavors.
Assembly
- Lay a tortilla on a flat surface. Spoon a generous amount of the beef mixture into the center, followed by a handful of shredded cheese. Fold in the sides and roll the burrito tightly.
Cooking
- In the same skillet, place seam-side down and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Serving
- Slice the burrito in half and serve with chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa to your liking!
Notes
For a healthier twist, consider using ground turkey or lentils for a vegetarian option. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
