Ingredients
  

For the beef mixture
  • 1 pound ground beef (Halal certified)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade)
For assembly
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or your choice)
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup sour cream (or yogurt)
  • ½ cup guacamole
  • 1 to taste Salsa (optional) For extra flavor
  • 1 to taste Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant and the onions turn translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
  2. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Use a spatula to break it into crumbles while it cooks. Stir until the beef is browned (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Sprinkle taco seasoning over the beef, mixing well. Add a splash of water if needed, and allow it to simmer for another 2-3 minutes to develop the flavors.
Assembly
  1. Lay a tortilla on a flat surface. Spoon a generous amount of the beef mixture into the center, followed by a handful of shredded cheese. Fold in the sides and roll the burrito tightly.
Cooking
  1. In the same skillet, place seam-side down and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Serving
  1. Slice the burrito in half and serve with chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa to your liking!

Notes

For a healthier twist, consider using ground turkey or lentils for a vegetarian option. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
