Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
For the Cheesecake Layer
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation and Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
  3. Stir in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder just until combined. Don’t overmix!
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth it out evenly.
  5. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until creamy and fully blended.
  6. Pour the cheesecake mixture over the brownie layer, spreading it gently to cover.
  7. Use a knife to swirl the brownie and cheesecake layers together, creating a marbled effect.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few crumbs.
  9. Allow cooling in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Cut into squares and serve!

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for easy blending. Avoid overbaking for fudgy brownies.
