Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb Ground beef Make sure it’s Halal-certified.
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded For that melty goodness.
  • 1 packet Taco seasoning Adds lots of flavor.
  • 4 large Tortillas Tortillas are the wrap's foundation.
  • 1 cup Lettuce, shredded Fresh crunch for texture.
  • 1 cup Tomatoes, diced Adds a juicy pop.
  • ½ cup Sour cream or yogurt For creaminess.
  • Oil For cooking, your choice (vegetable or olive works well).

Method

Cooking the Beef
  1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Seasoning the Meat
  1. Stir in the taco seasoning and follow packet instructions, which usually includes mixing in some water and simmering until the beef is fully seasoned (around 2-3 minutes).
Preparing the Tortilla
  1. Lay out each tortilla on a flat surface. Add a layer of shredded cheese (about ¼ cup) to the center of each tortilla.
Adding Fillings
  1. Layer the seasoned beef on top of the cheese, followed by lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream or yogurt.
Folding the Tortilla
  1. Carefully fold in the edges of the tortilla towards the center, creating a square shape to encase the fillings.
Cooking the Wraps
  1. In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed and place the folded wraps seam-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Once suitably crisp, remove from the pan, slice in half, and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

If you'd like, try turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter option. You can also use vegetarian ground meat or lentils for a plant-based twist. Ensure your pan is hot enough before adding the wraps to achieve that perfect crunch, and avoid overloading the wraps with fillings to keep everything together.
