Ingredients
Method
Cooking the Beef
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Seasoning the Meat
- Stir in the taco seasoning and follow packet instructions, which usually includes mixing in some water and simmering until the beef is fully seasoned (around 2-3 minutes).
Preparing the Tortilla
- Lay out each tortilla on a flat surface. Add a layer of shredded cheese (about ¼ cup) to the center of each tortilla.
Adding Fillings
- Layer the seasoned beef on top of the cheese, followed by lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream or yogurt.
Folding the Tortilla
- Carefully fold in the edges of the tortilla towards the center, creating a square shape to encase the fillings.
Cooking the Wraps
- In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed and place the folded wraps seam-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serving
- Once suitably crisp, remove from the pan, slice in half, and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
If you'd like, try turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter option. You can also use vegetarian ground meat or lentils for a plant-based twist. Ensure your pan is hot enough before adding the wraps to achieve that perfect crunch, and avoid overloading the wraps with fillings to keep everything together.
