  • Fork or potato masher
  • Shallow plates for breading
  • Large skillet or deep fryer
  • Slotted spoon
  • Paper towels

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes optional for extra creaminess
  • ¼ cup cream cheese softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • cups breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cheese Mixture:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine shredded cheese, mashed potatoes (if using), cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Chill in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes to firm up.
  • Bread the Cheese Balls:
  • Set up a breading station with three shallow plates: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
  • Roll each cheese ball in flour, dip in egg, and coat in breadcrumbs. For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating.
  • Fry the Cheese Balls:
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the cheese balls in batches for 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Serve:
  • Serve warm with dipping sauces like marinara, ranch, or sweet chili sauce.
