  • Knife and cutting board
  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cauliflower
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • 1 clove garlic minced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley lime juice, or grated Parmesan

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cauliflower:
  • Remove the leaves and stem from the cauliflower. Cut it into medium-sized florets.
  • Rice the Cauliflower:
  • Food Processor Method: Add the florets to a food processor in batches and pulse until they resemble rice grains.
  • Grater Method: Use the large holes of a box grater to grate the florets into rice-sized pieces.
  • Cook the Cauliflower Rice:
  • Heat the olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. If using garlic, sauté it for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the cauliflower rice to the skillet, stirring to coat it evenly with the oil or butter.
  • Season and Cook:
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook the cauliflower rice for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender but not mushy.
  • Serve:
  • Remove from heat and garnish with optional toppings like parsley, lime juice, or Parmesan. Serve as a side dish or as a base for stir-fries, curries, or bowls.
