  • 8 slices slices of bread (preferably day-old, for better soaking) Use brioche or challah for extra richness.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce For drizzling on top.
  • 2 apples cored and chopped Any sweet variety works well.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • to taste Whipped cream (for serving, optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the bread into large cubes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, caramel sauce, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and brown sugar until well combined.
  4. Grease a baking dish with cooking spray.
  5. Layer half of the bread cubes in the dish, followed by half of the chopped apples, and pour half of the custard mixture over them. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  6. Allow the mixture to soak for about 15 minutes.
Baking
  1. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center has set.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serving
  1. Top with whipped cream and extra caramel sauce as desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze individual portions for longer storage (1-2 months). For reheating, use microwave or oven at 350°F (175°C).
