  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped Chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 pound ground beef, browned and drained Cooked until no longer pink
  • 1 cup cooked rice Can use white or brown rice
  • 1 medium onion, diced Adds flavor and texture
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances the flavor
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz) For moisture and flavor
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz) Adds texture to the dish
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning For added flavor
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to preference
  • Optional: shredded cheese for topping Can be added for a creamy finish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pan, cooking until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
  • Stir in the cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well and remove from heat.
  • In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, arrange half of the chopped cabbage at the bottom.
  • Spread the beef mixture evenly over the cabbage layer.
  • Top with the remaining cabbage and cover the dish with aluminum foil.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.
  • For added creaminess, remove the foil, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, drain excess fat from the ground beef and avoid overcooking the cabbage. Add crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
