Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pan, cooking until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
- Stir in the cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well and remove from heat.
- In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, arrange half of the chopped cabbage at the bottom.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly over the cabbage layer.
- Top with the remaining cabbage and cover the dish with aluminum foil.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.
- For added creaminess, remove the foil, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For best results, drain excess fat from the ground beef and avoid overcooking the cabbage. Add crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
