Buffalo Sauce Recipe

Make your own classic buffalo sauce at home with this easy recipe! Perfectly tangy, spicy, and buttery, it's great for wings, sandwiches, and more.

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Airtight container (for storage)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup hot sauce like Frank’s RedHot
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for extra heat
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Melt the Butter:
  • In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter completely. Be careful not to let it brown.
  • Combine Ingredients:
  • Once the butter is melted, whisk in the hot sauce, white vinegar, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  • Heat Gently:
  • Cook the mixture over low heat for 2–3 minutes, whisking constantly. This allows the flavors to meld together without the butter separating.
  • Taste and Adjust:
  • Taste your buffalo sauce and add a pinch of salt or more cayenne pepper if desired for extra heat.
  • Cool and Use:
  • Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly before using. Toss it with your favorite wings, drizzle it over fries, or serve as a dip!
