Bruschetta Recipe

This classic bruschetta recipe combines crispy toasted bread, fresh tomatoes, garlic, and basil for an easy and delicious appetizer perfect for any occasion.

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Pastry brush
  • Oven or grill

Ingredients
  

  • 1 baguette or Italian loaf sliced into 1/2-inch thick slices
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for brushing bread
  • 4 ripe tomatoes diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the bread:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a grill.
  • Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
  • Toast the bread:
  • Bake the bread for 5–7 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy. If using a grill, toast for 2–3 minutes per side.
  • Prepare the tomato topping:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the mixture sit for 10–15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Assemble the bruschetta:
  • Spoon the tomato mixture onto the toasted bread slices just before serving.
  • Serve:
  • Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and drizzle with a little more olive oil if desired. Serve immediately.
