Ingredients

For the Cocktail
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries For mashing
  • 2 oz fresh lime juice About 1-2 limes
  • 2 oz tequila Or your favorite spirit
  • 1 oz simple syrup Adjust based on sweetness preference
  • Ice cubes For serving
  • Lime slices and extra blackberries For garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the fresh blackberries and smash them until their juices are released using a muddler or the backside of a spoon.
  2. Pour in the fresh lime juice and tequila. Add the simple syrup to taste for sweetness.
  3. If using a shaker, fill it with ice, cover it, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. If mixing directly in a glass, add ice and stir gently to combine all ingredients.
  4. Fill a glass with ice and pour the blackberry mixture over it. Garnish with a lime slice and a few whole blackberries.
  5. Take a moment to admire your creation, then sip slowly and enjoy.

Notes

Best enjoyed immediately. If you have leftovers, store the mixture without ice in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Avoid making it ahead of time with ice included as it may dilute the flavor.
