Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed) Essential for flaky texture
  • 3/4 cup milk (whole preferred) Use whole milk for best results

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) to ensure your biscuits bake evenly.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your hands, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix; we want our biscuits to stay tender.
  5. On a floured surface, turn the dough out and gently knead it a couple of times. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
  6. Using a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass, cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and fluffy.
  2. Remove from oven, brush with melted butter if desired, and serve warm!
