  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
Other Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries Frozen blueberries can be used if fresh is unavailable.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  5. Gently fold in the fresh blueberries, taking care not to break them.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and press it into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut the dough into circles.
  7. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow the biscuits to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm and fresh from the oven!

Notes

Use cold ingredients for the flakiest biscuits. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
