Preparation
- Wash the asparagus under cold water to remove any dirt. Trim the bottom ends and cut the spears into 2-3 inch pieces.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the asparagus pieces to the skillet in a single layer and sauté for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- If using garlic, add it in the last minute to avoid burning. Season with salt and pepper.
- Once tender yet crisp with a lovely char, remove from heat. If using lemon zest, sprinkle it over the asparagus before serving.
Serving
- Enjoy your sautéed asparagus warm, either as a side dish or paired with your favorite protein.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 days. Reheat in the microwave for 30 seconds or in a hot skillet with a splash of olive oil.
