  • 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-3 inch pieces Choose bright green spears with firm stalks.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Use for sautéing.
  • to taste Salt Season according to preference.
  • to taste Pepper Season according to preference.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional) Add in the last minute of cooking to avoid burning.
  • 1 zest lemon (optional for added brightness) Sprinkle over asparagus before serving.

Preparation
  1. Wash the asparagus under cold water to remove any dirt. Trim the bottom ends and cut the spears into 2-3 inch pieces.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the asparagus pieces to the skillet in a single layer and sauté for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. If using garlic, add it in the last minute to avoid burning. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Once tender yet crisp with a lovely char, remove from heat. If using lemon zest, sprinkle it over the asparagus before serving.
Serving
  1. Enjoy your sautéed asparagus warm, either as a side dish or paired with your favorite protein.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 days. Reheat in the microwave for 30 seconds or in a hot skillet with a splash of olive oil.
