Preparation
- Start by lightly scoring each hot dog lengthwise; this will allow them to heat evenly and prevent them from bursting in the air fryer.
- Take two slices of bread, spread a thin layer of butter or mayonnaise on one side of each. Place one slice of cheese on the unbuttered side, add a hot dog on top, and then another slice of cheese followed by the top piece of bread, with the buttered side facing up.
Cooking
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Once heated, place your assembled sandwiches in the basket, careful not to overcrowd. Cook for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Once done, remove them from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute. Then, slice them in half and add your favorite toppings like mustard, ketchup, or pickles.
Serving
- Enjoy your double delight of cheese and hot dogs while still warm!
Notes
Feel free to switch out the hot dogs for alternatives such as halal turkey or chicken varieties. Keep a close eye on your sandwiches as air fryers can vary in heat. Don’t skimp on butter or mayonnaise for that golden crust. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; freeze wrapped for up to a month. Reheat in air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
